Ooni Adesoji Aderemi Remembered At Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation

The late Ooni of Ife, Oba Adesoji Aderemi has been remembered for his contribution during the coronation of the Queen of the United Kingdom, Elizabeth II in 1952.

According to a presentation at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Late Oba Aderemi led delegates from Nigeria to the coronation.

The presenter disclosed that Oba Aderemi was made Knight of the Order of St. George in 1956 by the Queen, adding that the monarch became the Governor of the Western Region in 1960.

The BBC presenter said, “This is one from the family of Adesoji Aderemi who was Knighted by the Queen in 1956. He led the Nigerian delegation to the coronation when Wilson Churchill was prime minister.”

The presentation on the platform shows pictures of the late Ooni of Ife with Queen Elizabeth II and the British royal family at different times in London.
