Senator Orji Kalu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says Igbos in Nigeria’s South-east would benefit most from Bola Tinubu’s presidency if he wins in 2023.
Mr Kalu, who spoke to journalists on Tuesday in Abuja, said this is because the presidential candidate is a strategist.
“The Igbo people are going to be the biggest beneficiary of Tinubu’s presidency, and you will see it. Hold me responsible,” Mr Kalu said.
He said he was not against a president of Igbo extraction, adding that becoming Nigeria’s president was not a regional issue.
“I have no problem with an Igbo man becoming president, but we have to do it with other Nigerians.
“If you don’t do it with other Nigerians, it’s not going to work, no matter how popular you are; this is the president of Nigeria, not the president of Igbo land,” he said.
